Marvelous Monotypes with Photo Collage and Encaustic
Create monotype prints using oil pigment sticks as the "ink" on Gelli plates. Combine your photos printed on tissue paper as the base for the monotypes to create mixed-media paintings or collage. You will learn to transform these monotype printed photos on tissue paper into layered paintings I will also cover design elements and tips to help you develop your own unique style. We will focus on content and subject and how to approach printmaking with an intuitive perspective. I will also show you how to finish a painting with Drawing Oils for contrast using the "Five Minutes to Finish" approach I use with my own work.
Oil pigment stick monotypes and Drawing Oils
We will combine R&F Drawing Oils with oil pigment stick monotypes to create one-of-a-kind artworks to be used as collage or finished works. We will create a monotype base print using stencils and use Drawing Oils for details, which offer the control for drawing while delivering rich, permanent oil color. Made with pigment, linseed oil, and natural waxes, they bridge drawing and painting, suitable for sketchbooks, canvas, and panels, allowing techniques from bold marks to painterly effects.
