About Kelly
Kelly Austin-Rolo is a contemporary painter and printmaker whose primary focus is working in encaustic and mixed media. Originally from Lewes, Delaware, she received her B.F.A. from Syracuse University and started her career as a corporate designer in NYC working with top architectural firms. After living and working in New York City for 15 years, she moved two hours north of Manhattan to the rural countryside.
A recent transplant to Denver, Colorado, her work explores the natural world and man-made landscapes and cityscapes. Kelly's cyclical process of creation to destruction, back to creation, allows her to play with colors and materials, working their shapes over time, resulting in organic and harmonious forms.
Her work appears in collections throughout the US.

Encaustic monotype printing offers a dynamic bridge between printmaking, collage, and painting. These workshops explore how monotypes can evolve from independent works on paper into essential structural elements within an encaustic painting.
The mini workshop focuses on creating encaustic monotypes as expressive collage materials while introducing foundational ideas for constructing a painting surface. Participants will develop a library of printed papers and gain an understanding of material compatibility within the encaustic process.
The extended workshop builds on these foundations, moving into the integration of encaustic monotypes and other compatible materials directly into a painting. Artists will learn how layered papers, embedded elements, and monotype imagery can function as the visual and physical groundwork for finished work.
Together, these workshops guide artists through a natural progression — from experimentation and material generation to the development of rich, cohesive encaustic painting surfaces.
Each session may be taken independently, but experienced together they provide a deeper understanding of how monotype printing can expand and inform an encaustic painting practice.
