About Andrea

Andrea Clement is an encaustic artist and educator based in Miami, Florida. Her encaustic work explores the beauty and environmental fragility of Florida’s landscapes and wildlife. She holds an A.S. in Professional Photography from Daytona State College and a B.A. in Art History from the American University of Paris. With over 30 years of experience in photography, she has worked with the Research Laboratories of the French Museums, on the archaeological site at Tanis, Egypt, served as a catalog photographer for fine art auctioneers and dealers, and operated her own photography business. In 2014, her environmental portraiture work was featured on the Discovery Health Channel. Since 2016, Andrea has focused primarily on photo encaustic art, using the medium to tell the story of Florida’s natural landscape and its ongoing challenges, both past and present.  She teaches photo encaustic classes at the University of Miami as well as workshops at several venues. She is currently serving her second year as Artist-in-Residence at the Deering Estate and is an active member of the Florida Wax Group, a chapter of the International Encaustic Artists (IEA).

Creating Your Own Encaustic Resource Library

The solution to creative overwhelm?  Practice with purpose and keep it organized. If your encaustic practice feels scattered, you’re not alone - steady practice and a clear system will guide you forward.  In this video, I’ll show you six ideas designed to help you manage the wonderful information you are learning from the Painting With Fire videos and the workshops you attend, while creating valuable reference tools that you can return to again and again. Over time, this collection will help you:

  • Make confident decisions when an artwork feels stuck

  • Spark new ideas and directions

  • Choose and recreate colors accurately

  • Test techniques before committing to a larger piece

  • Develop a deeper understanding of your materials

By the end, you’ll have a growing encaustic resource library filled with usable examples and discoveries that support your creative process and strengthen your technical skills.  Whether you’re new to encaustic or looking to deepen your practice, this approach will give you clarity, inspiration, and a reliable foundation to build from.
